This small phone with a Wi-Fi icon on the side in the notification bar means what? A lot of phones do have a similar notification icon as well, but what does it mean?
The small phone with the Wi-Fi icon shall look like the following icon?
If the notification looks similar to the photo above, then you are in the right place. Bear in mind that in some phones, this icon may have a very small difference, but take note that they usually come in together as a phone icon with Wi-Fi icon.
This small phone with a Wi-Fi notification icon actually means what?
This icon actually means that your phone is currently using Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE (voice calling over 4G network.) or VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) mode. As you may have noticed, it will appear as long as you are calling someone, but it will not appear as long as you disabled your phone’s Wi-Fi.
This Wi-Fi calling feature actually was helpful because it provide you the best call quality as long as your phone doesn’t have good reception. Such as when you are indoors, it’ll make phone calls using an available Wi-Fi network if the reception is weak.
How to turn off Wi-Fi Calling, VoLTE, or VoIP?
You can disable/enable the Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE or VoIP in follow setting:
Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks >VoLTE Calls > Toggle left to disable while right to enable it.
